Hi,
i use a Netstarter 1.4 DOS Bootdisk (from to connect a server via tcp/ip to another servershare.
The sourcesystem uses a internal Broadcom Gigabit NetXtreme Network Card and is connected via a Gigabit Switch.

The Connection is running fine until i start Powerquest Drive Image and make a Imagefile of my partition to the Servershare i connected.
The transfer starts fine, but at 10 -20% transfer of the 2GB Imagefile the tcp/ip connection lost (i see it, with pinging the sourcemachine).
I have tested the same procedure with a 100MBit Switch and there are no problems while transfering this large file.
I also used the latest NDIS2 driver for DOS, but no better effects.

Does anyone has an idea, how to solve this problem?

Many thanks in advance for your help

Best regards

Christoph

I, too, see this and have the exact same problem. Did you ever figure out how to resolve it? If I throw in a PCI network card, the problem goes away, so it's definitely related to the onboard Broadcom NIC.

Thanks

Scott

Hi Scott,
sorry have until now no solution for this problem.
The chip is on a IBM xSeries 345 system. IBM has no solution for this moment and Broadcom said that they don´t give direct support.
I tested it with a lot of driver versions, but no solution.

Interesting is, that imaging a HD with Powerquest (1.5GB) makes losing the connection at 10-12% of the job. With Ghost i lose the connection at about 30-40%.

Interesting is, that the transfer performance climbs up with higher % of transfer and at 200-300 MBit/s it hangs.

For your info, i have the same problems with a 3com card that uses also the Broadcom chip. With a INTEL card, there is no problem.

I hope the infos helps you a little.

If i find a solution i will tell you, OK?

Best regards

Christoph
