Is anyone using the microsoft load balancing/clustering features of win2k. I know there are 2 options(multicast\broadcast). Also is anyone using Stonebeat clustering? We are and are getting the Vlans flooded with traffic. The clustering servers have a virtual unicast ip and a multicast mac (bad news) and it is causing the L2 switch to flood the vlan. What can we do to resoleve this?
Here are some options we have come to:
1. carve out another vlan and have local traffic routed to core (8600) then back out clustering fw
2.Change the switch to a L3 device
3. ?????? Please help!!!!
we do not know what to do. cisco's catalysts have a work around for this, but I have found nothing on nortel. we dont want to do either of the above options, so we want to know if we can assign the mac to the port(s). then it should not flodd the vlan?? I hope I am making myself clear, if not please ask more questions or tell me how you are working around this. Microsoft and Stonebeat are not going to go away, so this should be a problem we will all see in the near future. thanks
