MS Backup in W2k Server

Well here is my little dilema. I have a co-worker who uses MS backup to backup a 3GB file. Now the server he used to backup the file on completely crashed and had to be rebuilt from scratch. We are trying to restore the file from the backup media and are unable to do so. When we goto the restore wizard in MS backup it does not give us the option to check the appropriate media.

Does anyone know if their is a way to merge information from the tape into MS backup? We also use Arcserve 2000 for backups, and I know with it you have the option to take older tapes and merge them into the database and read/restore information from them..

i think database from arcserve is destroyed.
If Arcserve was installed on the server which crashed.
Now you must read in all media information. it takes a long time
