Has anyone taken the Windows Server 2003 assessment tests on this page?

Ive been doing a lot of studying for the 291 with videos, simulations and a variety of practice tests and doing pretty well. Then I saw these assessment tests and took them. I didnt do too hot. Then again part of the name resolution test had a bunch of WINS questions.

Do these compare well to the actual tests? It seems like there is always more material out there that you keep finding out about.

Im taking my 291 on Tuesday and now Im kind of worried!

I haven't looked at those assesments but i've taken the exam and i'd advise you to brush up on DNS it features pretty heavily. Make sure you know about 'stub zones' and 'delegations' and when you should use them both.

I have DNS down pretty good with zones, delegations, stub zones, transfers and so on so hopefully the real test will be like my practice tests.

Maybe a last min brush up on WSUS then and you should be fine. One tip is that there is quite a bit of text to each question try not to rush but you don't want to linger. I'd suggest marking any you aren't sure about and then going back at the end when you know how much time you have left.

That might sound like i'm stating the obviouse but a few have been caught on this exam.

WSUS should be easy since I used it extensively at my last job. As long as the variety of study materials and practice tests I used covered all the material I should be good to go.

I notice on the practice tests that they put in a lot of unnecessary text in the questions as if they were trying to throw you off.

When I took my 290 it was before they switched to the simulations so that should be interesting. Ive done quite a bit of the simulations plus setup a 2003 server with DNS, RRAS, IAS, DHCP and so on to play with.

DNS and RRAS are huge parts of the 291, along with WSUS, but the test wasn't that bad. Things can get wordy, and it is tempting to "cut to the chase," but you can easily miss key words that change the meaning of the question. I usually find myself reading the full question, eliminating the obviously bad answers, then re-reading more closely to determine which of the remaining answers is best. Even with spending insane amounts of time on most questions I've never come close to running out.
