MS Access XP Pivot Tables - Form is blank, tools are greyed out, etc

I have several workstations exhibiting the following behavior when attempting to create new pivot tables in Microsoft Access XP:

- The form created by the wizard is blank without any drop fields available
- All pivot table tools are greyed out

When opening existing pivot tables, the form is visible, but disfunctional. Filters do not work, all boxes are checked and cannot be unchecked, etc

I've seen many posts on the web for this problem, including one post here on Tek-Tips, reporting this and similar issues, but have been unable to find a solution anywhere - any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This is only hitting some of my users (for example, the problem does not occur on my workstation). I found no solutions on any of Microsoft's sites or on any of the other technical sites I searched...

Thanks in advance for any help!

Has the database been protected? If so it might cause problems like this.

The database is not protected - on the affected workstations the symptoms are experienced even if a new pivot table is created in a new database created from scratch. We've found the source of the problem to be possible issues with the registration of the web components, but some folks could use it before then suddenly could not, so we're not sure if this is indeed the cause.
