I am trying to migrate a MS Access database to Oracle 8i Enterprise 8.1.7. The MS Access database I have is a group
of tables and none of them are linked.
I have downloaded the 2 files from Oracle omwb_13100.exe and
msaccess_13100.exe.
When I try to run the migration tool it puts me into a page that says I need to convert the MS Access to an XML file?
I have seen this tool in the past and I have not seen it want to convert a MS Access database to a XML file before the migration. Any help on this project would be appreciated. Thanks Remerson

hey,

don't know if it still does this but an early version of that thing I used in 97 (w/8.0.3) took Access input masks/validation rules and made them into before insert triggers making it REAL SLOO my experience was that I spent more time cleaning up after it than if I had just built the schema(s) from scratch & pushed the rows manually.

my advice would be to push the smaller tables (<25K rows) over ODBC (from Access) then dump the big ones to flat files and use SQL*Loader (w/direct path).

just my 2c/never 2bHO...

Do you have a copy of the 2 files from Oracle omwb_13100.exe and
msaccess_13100.exe?

I am attempting to migrate MSAccess to oracle and need these files to work with v8.1.6 of Oracle8iPE amd v1.4.1 of the Migration workbench.

If you have them can you place them on aURL for me to retrieve.

Why Oracle would make them available, I do not know..

Thanx in advance,

John
