Bear with me, I'm an ACT newbie.

Can I link an Access database to an Act database? If so, how? Is an add-on required to do this? Any ideas or tips?

I've got about 15 ACT users, 10 of them remote with distributed databases. We have a programmer in-house with Access experience who wants to build reports in Access. Currently, he's looking at exporting the data from Act, and then importing it into Access. This is a lot of work for each user to do if they want a report. If there's an add-on where we can link to the ACT database directly, it would be much easier.

Any ideas?

Hello lifegard2,
Yes, it is possible to link Access to ACT! however, it will only link to the dbf file. So, you will not be able to get Notes/History, Sales Opportunity, Activity information. Remember that ACT! is comprised of 20+ tables.

Other possible solutions are:
Crystal Reports can link to all tables in ACT!. So, if you have this software it is a good start.

If you don't have Crystal check out this site:
Crystal Clear Reports

This product has been getting good reviews
Stonefield Query

Another one to look at

If you want to link ACT! to Access

Hope this helps,
Michael
