I am using MS Access 2000 and attempting to link to a [Sybase] ODBC table by linking to it in Access. Upon trying to connect to this the "Link" dialog does not display the "ODBC" file type in the "File Type" drop-down.

Please advise on what could be causing this. Thanks.

Sorry if this is like teaching my gran to suck eggs, but I use the following checks with my remote users. Sometimes it's the simplest thing that gets overlooked!

1) Have you already created the ODBC connector through control panel/administrative tools/Data Sources (ODBC)?

2) Have you checked that above link is currently passing the Test Connectivity tests?

3) In Access, from File, Get External Data, Link tables, - ODBC is often at the bottom of the list - have you scrolled to the bottom?

4) Can any other Application connect to an ODBC datasource?

5) Do you have admin rights to the machine you're using?

Good luck,

JB
