Hey There,
I've heard from some people (DBAs and Developers) at work that there are potential issues with using Access to create reports from linked tables to SQL Server. I've searched Google, but I couldn't find any technical articles on any known issues. I did find one that mentioned a problem with the tempdb table on the server, if it's set to auto-size and a badly written query is executed. This, however, would not be limited to Access since bad queries can be sent from any number of reporting applications or development platforms.
So, can anyone shed some light as to why using Access to read data from SQL server could cause problems? Was there an issue with earlier/current versions of Access and MDAC? Does Access hold connections open where other applications do not?
Inquiring minds want to know. :~)-
