I just set up an Access Database with the intent of using it on a Handheld device. My client told me he had Access on the device.

Now It's 4 day before I have to start collecting data and Access is not part of the Pocket PC repetoire.

Are there any Apps out there that will work. What are the best.

The data is flat, but needs lots of data in a lookup table.

There will be a field for a species, and then a field for the aerial cover of the species. There will be 5 of these types of fields, each one with the same lookup table of about 720 species.

Access on the Pocket PC is supported but is in the form of Pocket Access. You can read and write from the .cdb database format but not view the table structure or data directly as on the desktop without third party tools. In order to read write use adoce and present the data in grids or listviews etc. Getting the data from the desktop to the pocket PC is accomplished first by creating the data on the desktop and transferring to the PocketPC which converts the database format from .mdb to .cdb.

You will lose autonumber field population on conversion.

Hope this helps get you started.

Thanks, that does explain things a bit better. However the end result is that since it seems that a form that I developed won't work in the pocket access module I am still in the same boat. Upon researching the situation I see that I could write my own SQL code, but I don't have the time to learn it, test it, and implement it. I used to write code for Dbase, but now rely so heavily on MS Access to do things for me that I never learned SQL proficiently enough to easily do this.

Any other third part suggestions or recommendations would be great. I don't need an application with that many abilities - no relational ability, no wireless, etc. I only need good lookup table funtionality and downloading ability. Carrying common data down to the next record which I wrote in VBA in Access is necessary as well. Number of records will be in the low thousands - and downloaded, removed nightly anyway.

I don't personally know of any apps that meet your requirements but Handango is a very good place to find PPC software. They have a huge searchable archive of free- and share-ware.
