Hi! so i have this small project in which i need to construct a database to store volunteers info in MS access 2003. I'm done with my tables and their relationships but i'm struggling with forms. I used the wizard to contrsuct my form and grabbed fields from the query I made, but when i opened the form some of the fields aren't enabled. Is it because I placed in fields from different tables?

Also, is there a way to stop the form to do automatic updates on the record? I wanted the user to use the SAVE button before changes can be made or new data can be saved.

Thanks in advance!

I rarely create a form that has a record source of more than 1 or 2 tables. Can you share your SQL view of the record source of your form and describe your table relationships?

The fields are not enabled or cannot be edited? There is a difference. If the latter, are they the key fields, and from which table? What kind of a relationship do your tables share?

By default, the primary key of the primary table cannot be edited unless you enforce referential integrity with cascading updates and/or deletes. There are pros and cons to allowing either of these. It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

How are ya mirkwood . . .

We really need to see the [blue]RecordSource[/blue] of the form. Just copy and paste it in your next post ...
