MRS for SQL 2008 Express

Is there an 'express' version for Microsoft Reporting Service downloadable from Microsoft or do I have to buy the developer version of the whole package? If there is, any tips on finding it? Microsoft has not made it easy - there is a page for Visual Studio 2008 for Express but no Reporting Services that I can see.

Reporting Services comes with SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services. Download that and you should be good to go.

I downloaded that. I open the SQL Server Installtion Center and go to Installation and select New SQL Server standalong installation or add features to an existing installation but it doesn't give me the option to add Reporting Services and I don't see it on a menu. I must be missing something . . .

I know there are multiple downloads for SQL Server 2008 Express. My copy that includes Reporting Services is named SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe and is > 500MB in size.

Are you trying to install from the Visual Studio Express or SQL Server Express install files?

That's the file I downloaded (x64 though) but there are several different sites. Went to

http://www.microsoft.com/express/sql/downloads

adn got Runtime With Advanced Services and that finally worked.
