We are (attempting) to run MRP and were just begining to see the light at the end of the tunnel and realized it was a freight train!
We have outside process operations in our routings (i.e. painting) that we issue a PO for and tie the po to the shop order. We also use the 'P' PO flag in the routing to indicate the parent description is printed on the po.
As strange as it may seem - I hope I have been staring at my monitor too long these PO's are now considered replenishments for the parent part by MRP (thus thinking there are more of the parent part available than there really is). To convince myself (since I still have a few ounces of faith left in Macola) I reduced the PO qty associated with the shop order operation and SAS MRP reflected a planned order for the part.
Has anyone seen this before? Is anyone seriously using MRP out there? I'm starting to have my doubts.....
Thanks!
Jim
