Hi,

We have a setup with MQ Series Version 5.2 running on Windows NT 4.0 SP6a and AS/400 OS/400 4.5. Every morning the channels are inactive and we have to manually restart them.

MQ running on the AS/400 is stopped and started automatically to accomodate the backup process. We schedule a simple script on the NT box to start the channel every 4 hours. But this still doesn't solve the problem.

Any suggestions on how to keep MQ Channels up and running 365 by 24.

Thanks,

- Mike

simply change the default distinct intervul from 600 to 0 and this will keep the channels open 24/7 email me if you need more help

You can Trigger the channels,so as start to the channels when ever a message arrives on the queue, channnels consume resources when they are in a running status.By Triggering the channels you can save the resources and start the channels when ever you want.

Mike:

Is normal that the channel be inactive when don't have traffic. But you can put running automatic when it receive a message.

Look for the transmition queue that is asociated to that channel (is defined in properties from de sender channel).

Then, do the transmition channel triggered: On, Every, and in the field Initiation Queue Name: SYSTEM.CHANNEL.INITQ

When the channel is inactive and you put a messagge, mq know that it is not running and put the messagge in the transmition queue, but the transmition queue is triggered and get up the SYSTEM.CHANNEL.INITQ whom put running the channel.
