mpegs freeze projector

I'm creating a projector file to put on a CD which contains a number of mpeg video clips.

When the exe file is run an mpeg freeze the projector file. It can be unfrozen by switching to another application and back using the alt-tab keys. Any video clips played after that dont have the same effect, but it doesnt matter which clip is played first.

I'm using the Direct Media Xtra to run the mpegs and working on a PC rather than a Mac

Any suggestions how I can get round this?

have you tried going to general preferences in director an ticking "animate in background"?
this solved similar prob for me
