mp3's gone forever?????

i had about 3 gig of mp3 music on my computer.
there was a VBScript script file in with all my music.
when i clicked on it, all my mp3 files converted over to VBScript script files.
i can not access any of it.
help!!!!
is it lost forever????
how can i get them bact to mp3 format?????

well unless it really changed the file, you should just be able to rename them .mp3

all the files were converted to 12 meg.
and the actual file names were changed to have .mp3 at the end of the title.
but if you look at the file properties, they are VBS files

It appears that you have contracted the "LoveLetter" virus (or some form of it). I had to deal with it at the company I used to work for... their servers were overrun by the virus for most of last year. I can't even begin to estimate how many gigs of images I lost to it.

Those 12KB files contain the code for the virus. Do NOT run those. You will have to delete them and start some major downloading to restore your library of mp3s.

well i had about 8 GBs in mp3 i put the winamp playing sindce 10 A.M. and in the nihght uncertainly the winamp can't play any song i chek the hard disk and i found only a rare file with .p|l extension and other of bon jovi both the 3,725,35 GBs and no one want to play what can i do??

THERE YOU WILL FIND A FREE VIRUS SCAN WHICH WILL IDENTIFY ALL OF THE FILES WHICH ARE INFECTED THEN GO INTO THE SYSTEM TOOLS ON THE WEB SITE AND USE THE CORRECT ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM FOR THE LOVEBUG WHICH IS ALSO FREE AND THAT IS IT, IT TAKES VERY LITTLE TIME AND IS TOTALLY FREE, GOOD LUCK.
