I want to know the feasibility of creating MP3 player in Java. I also want to be able to analyse the music and automatically work out the beats per minute of the music.
This is for my final year project at university.

Is there existing code out there that can help me?
Is it just an algorithm or something which decodes the music?
I understand that I might have to do this in real time
as MP3 files music cannot be analysed until decompressed?

If anyone is interested or thinks they could help me could you email me soon at ug17cxl@cs.bham.ac.uk. As if this project is not feasible then I will have to do something else. Thanks alot Chris.
