Very interesting read.

Makes me laugh when I've been told by people that popularity of a system / application has no bearing on the number of attacks poised at it.

Proof is in the pudding:

Less interesting reading as they got all defensive, but still worth the time (it's pretty short)

While I do agree with some of the points in that register article, do note that the source behind the details is Symantec, someone who wants to keep you convinced that you need anti-virus software.
 
Fair point - and I'm not going to get into the done-to-death debate of open source Vs. MS software security wise; but it makes me laugh when people have said that popularity has a bearing on how much a product is targeted - and the open source fanatics disagreed.
