I'm not sure if this should be here or in CSS - please advise

Is there a list somewhere of the key differences between browsers handling of heights, tops and divs in css please?

I'm having a real job lining up the tops of absolute divs and relative divs between the different browsers

Thank you

johnwm - I suggest reading the Box Model Hack. It may be of interest to you.

Also, I use for all my CSS needs.

Thanks for the reference. I shall ponder on it, as I can't (at the moment) get it to help me. I've tried w3schools, very good, but I can't find this difference still. I'll try in CSS forum with some code!

The box model hack is exactly what was I found causing my problems. I pulled up my site in IE and Mozilla, shrunk the windows down to show just the part I was working on, and started playing with div margins and padding until I found the problem and got them pixel for pixel exact.

Thanks for your comments. It looks like I may have to break my design and use absolute and absolute!

Thanks for your response - as I feel it's probably a css thing I've expanded on the question in thread215-926697, if you could look there

Thanks

To tidy this thread up (also posted in the other thread):

I've found the problem!!!

If the #hdr div is 1 pixel high, and you put big text or caption (or whatever) in it different things happen.

In IE the 'relative' seems to measure from the bottom of the actual text

In Mozilla the 'relative' measures from the bottom of the div. Threfore if height of the div and height of the div contents aren't the same the browsers display differently.

I hope this may save someone else some grief!
