I have a volume in my disk pool, defined as a raw (not on a filesystem)

example: /dev/dsk/volume1

I would like to move it from /dev/dsk/volume1 to a filesystem based volume (/tsmvolumes/volume1)

Any way to do this?

TIA

I would create a new disk volume.....add it to the storage pool...make the volume you want to empy readonly...then do a move data...

But I haven't tried that... but it shouldn't matter that the old one was RAW

If this is the only volume in diskpool and you don't care if the data will be on disk, you can migrate all data on raw volume to tapes, delete the raw volume, then create the volume on filesystem.

you cannot move a RAW volume to a Filesystem without doing a movedata

Thanks everyone for their replies!

Comtec17: I was thinking of doing a MOVE DATA too, but would this hurt my data or system? This is a production system.
