Hi all,

I have a customer who used to use the software Quark Express but I have recently installed the Adobe InDesign software on his PC as this is the software we are moving to the problem is we have fonts in Quark Express which arent display in Adobe Indesign, Can I use Quark Express fonts in Adobe Indesign and how do I get them to display?

Many Thanks for your help.

There's no such thing as quark or indesign fonts. If a font is not showing up and you have that font, look for it on your machine and make sure it's active if you use any font managements software.

How do you check the fonts are active, they are listed in the Standard Windows location C:\WINDOWS\Fonts but not all are listed in Adobe Indesign.

Regards

If you have a missing font in indesign, it should show up with the pink background when you open it. That indicates that ID has substituted its default font for the missing one.

With the doc open, go to File menu/Preflight and preflight the thing. Clcik on Fonts to see the missing one. Then use Find Font to locate it.

Remember that you need the exact same font, not a family. It the things calls for something like Helvetica Neue 55 Roman T1, you have to have that, not just Helvetica. If the other person used a Mac and a T1 font, you have to have the Windows version of that postscript font.

This is a common topic:

Every font file has at least 2 or more assignable attributes for names (postscript name, fullname, family, human readable name, etc). InDesign may be reading a different name than what QuarkXPress was reading. Be sure to scroll through your entire font list in InDesign.
