Anybody know what file contains the design packages which show up on the project options window at menu option COMPONENTS/INSTALL PACKAGES in Delphi 5?
I've copied over my components directories and installed Delphi 5 on my new laptop, but I'd like to skip re-installing every component I've ever used if at all possible.
Also, where are the environmental options directories stored?
Thanks for the help!
Peace,
Colt

Hi there
As for packeges: take a look at your registry. Path: 'HKCU\Software\Borland\Delphi\5.0\Known Packages';
You can export this key to a file and then import it on your new laptop.

Cheers.

I have a somewhat related question to this. I am using Delphi 7.0 and a PC that was passed down from a previous user. If I log on (Win2k) as the previous user, all of the installed packages are there and the program I am working on is fine. If I log in using my user account, then there are about 10 packages that are not showing up as being installed. What do I need to do to get all of the same packages installed on my user account?

I apologize if this is a simple question - I'm a newbie at this as I've been in a field service position for the last eight years and I have recently been moved over to our electrical department.

Thanks in advance.

This is because the components were installed for the other user's profile. What you need to do is to export some of the Delphi's registry values from the other user and then import them to your own profile.

I think they are the same registry values as in McMerfy's post. So you need to log in as the other user, then export the values to c:\regImp.reg (example) and the log off, log in back as yourself and then merge the registry file to the registry.

Note that there may be some other registry values also that need to be copied.
