We have a server at this point. Too slow, so we are installing another server. Removing SQL from the main server and then reinstalling it on the new server. Could anybody point me to the proper steps of doing this.
Can we just install SQL on the new server and then move the database. Then detach from the SQl and attach it at the new server?? ANy help would be appreciated.

Here is your basic plan.

Install SQL on the new server.
Patch the new server.
detach the databases from the old server
attach them to the new server
point the apps to use the new server.

Done.
