I have a sub site based on the Helpdesk template. We have implemented a new DC and have WSS 3.0 installed and working.

If I save the site as a template and include content it does work but only saves the last entry for each Service Request (Verisoning turned on for this list).

Is there a better way of transfering the site and all content or is this just the way it is???

STSADM -o Export -filename "filename" -url " -includeusersecurity -versions 4

Copy the files to your new server than

STSADM -o Import -filename "filename" -url " -includeusersecority -updateversions 2

I assume I have to have the sub site under my Team site created on my new server before doing this.

Also are the "versions 4" and "updateversions 2" numbers relavent.

Do I need to import the custom template onto the new server first??

When I do this it seems to screw up some of my list columns. Some are there twice and I can't get rid of them. This is stopping me edit list items!!!

I have tried doing this loads of ways.

Can I export the list template from my old server with no content and then use the stsadm export/import just to pu the content in rather than the whole thing?? I have looked through the links you kindly supplied on stsadm but can't see anything like this.

Also, I have to create the site collection in sharepoint Admin before it will let me import the file. So I have been creating a Team main site and putting this on the end of it or creating a blank site and putting this over the top.

Is there another way to do it so it just uses my exported file or is this the only way??

Cracked it, I think!!!

On Old server: Save Site Template with No Content on old server. Export site as per stsadm above.
On New Server: Create new collection as Team Site. Import Site Template into gallery. Create sub site using custom template. Import site into sub site url using stsadm above.

Al now seems to be working and all info seems to be there.

Need to do a few tweeks to the views (I think that is a bug which MS have now patched) but all good.

Thanks for your help. I like it when someone can get me going in the right direction rather than step by step how to get there. Makes me feel like I'm not taking the P**s!!!!

Thanks again, Star for you my friend.
