I am brand new to the NEC platform but have extensive experience with Avaya enterprise PBX's.

I am looking for an easy way to handle station moves between existing desk that are already cross-connected to a digital station port/lens in the system WITHOUT having to move cross connects.

In the Avaya world there is a feature called terminal-translation-initiation (TTI) that allows for easy moving of digital and analog stations from one desk to another. It is a feature code used at the phone being moved that separates the extension from that phone and in the system marks the port/lens as X/virtual and then a different code is used at the new desk to merge that extension down to that phones port/lens (assuming it doesn't already have an extension).

Is there any feature similar to this in the NEC? It seems that the only way to do it now is to delete the station(s) entirely and re-add them.

Please tell me there is a feature for this on the NEC.

Much thanks in advance.

There is no feature code or command to do this on the 8500. NEC developed a software appliance, the MA-4000 which will allow you to do moves and swaps. It is licensed by the number of ports in the system.
