I need to know how to move a BDC IIS server running our intranet from one existing domain onto a test server on another domain. We are running windows NT 4.0 and IIS 4.0

after we are able to move it then we are going to upgrade to win2k and IIS 5.0 however must be able to move it first. Need as much help as possible thanks

Stippy11,

I regret to inform you that Windows NT4 BDC's cannot change the domain they are affiliated with. To do this would require a re-installation of the operating system, which would wipe the users/group/permissions you have already established.

So how about making it a non-bdc, moving it, and re-promoting it. The quick and dirty way to do it would be to disjoin this domain and wack the local SAM, forcing a new one to come down. Make sure to test this out though :)

I don't think there's a supported way to make an NT4 DC into a stand-alone server either.

I am not positive but I believe you can set up a trust between the two domains ans then after the trust is in place you should be able to move the information over to the other server. But make sure that you specify on both machines that the other domain is trusted or it won't work. I am not sure if this will help you or not but there you go.
