I'm in the process of upgrading the network and am looking to increase hard drive space for the exchange server. I'm running 5.5 SP3. 30 users. The server has 2 harddrives with 2.5 GB each and still have good amount of space. I plan on activing the POP 3 connector that was never configured so it polls mail from ISP and users can get it directly from the server and not the ISP. I understand this would require additional space. If i add a harddrive to this box i would simply run optimization wizard correct? Or should i establish a new server (which i'll have available) and load Exchange with SP3 and NT and it's SPs then restore IS and DS from backup?

suggestions welcomed :)

Another way to move to a new server with virtually no downtime is to set up a second server in the sight and then move mailboxes. People will only be locked out at the time their box is being moved. (If they are logged in they will need to exit and reenter). This also has the effect of defragging the Info Store as only active records are moved. You can then stop the old server, delete the priv.edb and restart. That will create a blank database that is then ready as a "hot spare" to move boxes back in the event of a problem with the new server.
