I have approximately 500 users and 100 printers. All the printers are on one server, //Print. Now I need to move all these printers to two different servers. Is there an easy way to change users printer settings? Would there be a registry hack that can replace the printer server name with a different one? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,

I got this some time ago from a user here on tek-tips.

I am using the conprt file. You can delete or add and set default printers during logon. This is how you should do it anyway I think. No use in going to each machine etc...

Good Luck

Best way is through a logon script/batch file.

Use rundll32

rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /in /c(UNC path of print server) /n(UNC path of printer on print server)

rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /?

Or you could also use CON2PRT

Downloadable from

(Make sure you have the alternative/point&print drivers installed on the server)
