Hi Crew,
82906 here and I'm searching for the best way to move our network printers, print spooler and cues to a Windows 2003 Standard Edition server basically making this server my print server. My current print server is a Windows 2003 Standard Edition that has simply run out of diskspace and I need to rebuild it. Moving printers is something that I never done so this is a new experience for me. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks

p.s. Geuss it would help if you knew what kind of printers we were using over the network:
Cannon ir8500
Cannon ir6020
4/HP LaserJet 4100
2/HP LaserJet 1200

If you're talking about a small number of printers and users (say less than 30 users), I would just install the printers on the new server, the go to the work stations and re-map them to the printers. The spool files and such will be created when you install the printers.

If you're talking a LARGE number of printers/users, and keeping the same server is an option, you might just want a larger hard drive. Ghost or PowerQuest Drive Copy will allow you to quickly (relatively) upgrade your hard drive to a larger one.

If you're using batch files or logon scripts to map printers, then you would just modify the logon script to point to the new server and printer share....

I dunno... a dozen ways to handle it I suppose.

Just my 2¢
