Guys

Does anyone know of any problems in moving printer objects (Printer, Print Queue and Print Server objects) from one container to another?

The scenario is that some servers may be moving into a new container and I just wanted to establish what problems (excluding reconfiguring the HP printers themselves) moving these objects could possibly cause. I am not talking NDPS, just standard printing at the moment.

If anyone has any Novell docs on the subject, it's worth a star ;) -----------------------------------------------------

You will be better off deleting the existing Printer-related Objects and recreating them in their new location. I say this from experience! Its easy enough to re-create the Objects within JetAdmin and will go in much cleaner!

Good Luck!

Sal - have you ever had an "Insufficient rights for IPX" error when using JetAdmin? This error is quite frequent and is a pain in the ar$e! -----------------------------------------------------

Many, many times!!! Whenever I receive that message, rather than messing around, I reset the JetDirect device to factory defaults, delete the Printer and Print Server objects and start fresh.

The only thing I leave as is would be the Print Queue object. Everything else is removed!

But in this case, because everything is moving, I would recreate everything!

Good Luck!
