My boss had worked with an Avaya system at the last company he worked for. He said that when a person moved, they could just punch in a couple of digits, plug the phone in to where they were moving, and wait for a confirmation beep when it was transfered.

Is there any way to do that with Meridian systems....specifically an option 11c?

Also,
Is there a way to do it through programming rather than physically moving the wire to the new location?

YES to both questions.
Use both with care.

Automatic Set Relocation is the feature name and requires a SRCD password be setup in CDB. Also, make sure CSC is in your history record and your local terminal setup, and make sure you can read what is displayed when you do an IDU in LD 32 - if not change your terminal setup to 7/space. Then read the Automatic Set Relocation section in your Software Feature Guide. It is best to be very systematic when using this feature to not get lost phones in your system.

The other way is to use the MOV command.
If DN 1111, TN 4.0.0.1 is in station A moving to B
DN 2222, TN 4.0.0.7 is in station B moving to A

Find an unused TN
LD 20
REQ: LUVU
Type: 2000
TN: <cr>
4.0.0.15

Move station a to available TN, Move station b to station a's TN, Move station a (now on available TN) to station B's TN.

ld 20
REQ: MOV
Type: (enter phone type - all phones must be digital or analog)
TN: enter current TN
TOTN: enter the TN to be moved to

Don't use the MOV command if this set is monitored or an ACD set.

Reusser... Isn't both Auto set relocation and the MOV command bad for the phone switch? I have been informed using both of these methods are a good way to cause corruption? It's best to OUT the phone and make a new phone.

I have been using the MOV command with no problems on an 81C. Just don't try moving a digital to an analog port, etc, etc.... OUT is ok unless you have a number of MOV's to do. Then it requires a LOT of keyboarding. And remember, to print out ANY/ALL phones to be "OUT"'d. Because as soon as you OUT it, they will want it back with all the original "bells and whistles" -OR- trying to remember all the "bells and whistles" when you "NEW" it! Happy Phoning.

I use the mov command a lot. If the set is ACD - Don't use move command. Also if set is monitored - don't use move command. However, opt11 is more likely to get corruption including from the move command.

Auto set relocation is ok for one or two phones moving at a time. Multiple phone moves can cause problems

Thanks alot, I will do a little testing with dummy phones before trying it with any real sets. Everything you mentioned about the Auto Set Relocation is beyond me still. Anyways, I think I should learn how to confidently do a move before attempting to set up the Auto set relocation feature.

One more thing. how can i tell if a set is monitored or an ACD set?

Thanks a lot for the help
