We're about to open a small office and have obtained a domain name from Network Solutions for our email. We are going to use our local phone company's DSL service. When the DSL modem arrives, are they going to provide me with IP addresses and DNS addresses which somehow need to be pointed to Network Solutions? Or is it the reverse, do I change some address in my account at Network Solutions so the emails go from them to my DSL/ISP? There are all kinds of warnings on Network Solutions site that if I change things that my email may not work, etc.

Well, if I understand this correctly,Network Solutions is hosting it -- we pay them for a certain number of mailboxes and a certain amount of storage space. So I assume that means they are hosting it?

You are talking about two different kinds of DNS settings.

If NetSol is hosting your web site and email, DNS for your website and email should be pointed there, and NetSol will take care of that. Now your DSL company will give you DNS addresses to use for your computers. That is so that you will have Internet access. DO NOT put the DNS settings for your website in your TCP/IP settings on your computers. You will not have Internet access. The only DNS you need to worry about is for your email. Your server settings for email should look something like mail.yourcompany.com for incoming, and either mail.yourcompany.com or mail.yourdslcompany.com for outgoing. If this is too confusing, email me and I'll give you my phone number.
