I need to move a group of users (one department- approx 50 people)away from our server and container into their own server and container. I'm not sure the best way to go about it. I can easily move their data and home directories to the new server - but what about their NDS objects and groups? If I create a new container and move the users and their objects to the new NDS container, what is the best way to perserve or restore file and directory rights? Any suggestions on how to go about this would be appreciated.

Just moving Users from one Container to another will not (...or at least should not) effect the users File and Directory level rights.

Also, when copying Files and Directories, if you want to preserve the trustee assignments, you must use NCOPY, or some other form of copy application that will consider NetWare rights.

Good Luck!

For copying stuff, use NWCOPY

I have found NWCOPY to be a far better copying utility than any thing else. If NWCOPY finds a problem, instead of stopping (which is a pain in the ar$e), it will write the fault found to an error log and carry on. You can then check the error log for copy problems. -----------------------------------------------------
