I've always been able to click on a layer and it would automatically blue highlight the layer in the box and I could move it around or edit it automatically. Now all of a sudden it stopped allowing me that option. I now have to go hunt for the layer in the box and click on it to work with it. Its a real hassle and is slowing me down big time. Is there something I can do about this (some preference or option) or do I have to reload the program. (I have PS6)
Thanks.

i never new you could just click on a object in the artboard and it would automatically select that object and it's layer...i have always had to select the layer i want from the layers pallet before i could apply anything to that layers object...

all news to me...but if you can do that i would be interested as to how this is accomplished...

If you are using Photoshop 6.0, there is a checkbox named,'Auto Select Layer' in the main options bar (across the top) that appears when you have the move tool selected.
With this box checked it will grab the layer you are clicking on.

learned something new today..john you left that one out in class..one downfall is it seems to be pretty pointless if you have multiple layered images and or objects laying on top of each other..but for layers that are not "layered" so to speak, it works great..

a pinkie for you jaQUAN...

You can also CTRL click the layer on the canvas and it will select that layer, but not when Opacity is not on 100, this will just select the background..... funkymonk B-)

Tried it out last night. Very neat, selecting the object and highlighting the layer.
Thanks

hehe, Dont forget you can ctrl+left click (command+click for Mac) on the layer to auto select the contents of that layer.
