We are moving our GW from mulitple Novell servers to 1 Win 2k server. Running GW 5.5 Sp5 and Netware 5.x (not sure of the patches on Netware OS) Does anyone have experience with this. I want to keep all existing email and users. I am experimenting with a small hub all to itself and trying to setup using backup copies of the post office databases. everythign seems to be working but for the GWIA module. I have set it up to hit the internet using an alternate dns name and IP. (our other email servers are unplugged during this time)

I would appreciate any help Icould find. Hoping to finish before the week is over.

Update...Now the Gwia module is up and running...the log screen just jumps from top to bottom and already tried to set the properties for the cmd window. I would still appreciate any tips or things to watchout for when moving from a Novell email server to win 2k running GroupWise.

We recently migrated from our GW 5.5 EP PO from a Novell server to GW6 SP1, win2K SP2 server. I didn't do it personally as we have a CNE. All went OK, but we couldn't get some of the sevices to run, so we had to run them as exe's instead.
These then bombed every 15-20 minutes or so. So we had to use the SP2 Beta files for the MTA. POA and GWIA. This solved the problem of the crashing but now the GW SP2 is released we are planning to install this and see if it cures any of the Services bugs.

During these problems we posted on Novell's Forums but couldn't find anyone else who had installed GW on a 2K server.

Thanks for your input Chris...we are considering going to GW 6 at the end of the year... it is good to know that we should watch out for those issues...I woudl like to know how your upgrade goes in the future...I will post my results as we complete the move to 2k from Novell servers..i have tested an environment in the last few days and it seems stable for the few hours i had it online...I expect by next weekend to have a new GW 5.5 environment running on Win2k...I will update the group after I have conquered this task....

We are successfully running 3 PO's & MTA's on W2K. The only issue we experienced was that we needed to DESELECT the NDS synchronization option because the MTA would itself down every night. The service did restart without issue but we did not want the MTA to be down so we disabled NDS synchronization.
