My company is moving from Sun Solaris to AIX boxes. What are the major differences between the two ?

IBM also has a Solaris to IBM executive overview class they teach.

Bill.

Thanks for the links. I am very interested in NFS mounting files between AIX boxes for log file monitoring purposes. We have substantial log files (200-300 megs x many) that we would rather not pipe over a network. Any ideas or comments on nfs mounts with NFS?

could yeald for some info if searching google for
"Solaris site:.compaq.com"

google is best navigator for ibm.com :)

You put a line n /etc/exports signifying a public directory,

Then you start

> nfsd -tun 2
> mountd

and then on client
> mount server:/one/directory /local/path

(not sure about exact first step - its kinda system-specific - but rest should work fine)

Security - dont give access to whole world nor trust dns ...
