I have a client who is looking to replace their old server with something new. They only have 5 PC's in the office. Old server is running Windows Server 2000.

Not sure what to get for a new server. but I'd like to somehow migrate everything from the old server to the new server with as little downtime as possible.

So here are my questions:

1) Can I just get Server 2008 R2 or do I need Small Business Edition?

2) How can I migrate from old server to new? Is it a matter of setting up new server as BDC and then removing the old server, then promoting new server to PDC?

Help!

Upgrading Active Directory Domains to Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 AD DS Domains

The last statement went away when Microsoft retired NT4.0 servers and created Windows 2000 Active Directory Domains (PDC/BDC no longer exist)
