We are about to make the move to either an ORACLE/MS SQL moving from access. Does anybody have any experiences and/or advice that you would like to share with me on this subject???

Should I use direct/in-direct mode?

I have some applications that run using ORACLE client already will they be affected?

Any advice on where to find docs/site links related to this would be much appreciated,

Regards,

You can use the command [dsmaint migrate] - syntax and parameters are detailled in the MetaFrame XP Admin guide in Citrix -> Documentation on your XP servers.

The procedure isn't very fully documented, though;

The way I set up an Oracle database is to run the Net(x) Configuration Assistant and configure the Local Net Service Name. This _should_ have no impact on your existing client - if the Oracle user name you use for your Citrix Data Store has adequate permissions.

You can then run the dsmaint migrate - and connect to the Data Store directly from each server, bearing in mind that the Zone Master will still do most of the work, so this causes very little extra traffic, IME.

Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
