Hi All,
I need to transfer a windows 2k server hosting exchange 2k to a new domain. The new domain has the same name as the current one but is a different domain (i.e. at another site). Both domains contain the same user account names. I want to add the exchange server to the new domain as a member server. It seems to me that I must demote the mail server before adding it to the new domain, but will this blow away all user accounts and mailboxes? If it does presumambly I can recreate the mailboxes in the account synchronised from the new domain and restore data from backups.
I can't help but think that there must be some clever short-cut to synchronise the 2 different AD databases so that the mailboxes from one domain become associated with the user accounts of the second domain, since both domains share the same user account names. Then I would not need to recreate the mailboxes and run the restore.
Cheers,
Andrew
