Hi,

I need to migrate Exchange from 1 domain to another whilst keeping it on the same machine. The users will also migrate across. Is this possible? If so, any guidance would be appreciated

Thanks

Kev

No - it is not supported. Exchange is tied to Active Directory - if you remove it from a domain, you've just lost all of your users.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

Why would you do this?

Exmerge the mailboxes out, blow the box and bring them back in would be your only option.

Hi,

First of all, I am trying this all in a test lab to see if it can be done. Can I have an exchange server in the parent domain, configured to collect email for users@uk.com, then have a child domain that also has a exchange server that will collect email for users@us.uk.com?

So basically, can you have 2 echange servers in a forest, collecting email for their relative domain whilst allowing internal traffic between them? If not, what are my options? We have users in the UK and in the US, it makes no sense for US users to receive external email via the UK Exchange in my eyes....how do others tackle this?

Thanks

Kev
