Hi all,
We are about to install a new server for our Exchange 2003 server. We have read and plan to follow the KB articles mentioned in previous threads here...
One question though.. (I didn't see it mentioned in the KB article)
Once the mailboxes are moved, and public folders replicated to the new server, and the old server s taken off line.
Do we have to goto each client to tell it the name of the new server? or can we push the name out through group policy or a script?
Can we change the name of the new server to the name of the old server so the clients won't be effected?
Thanks everyone, and have a great 4th of July holiday!!

When you move the mailboxes and the client connects, they will be directed to the new server automatically. Keep the old server "online" until all mailboxes are moved to the new server.

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

There are no more PDC's! There are DC's with FSMO roles!

A star for Davetoo for his correct answer. As he mentions, the original server needs to be online until all clients have logged into their mailboxes once. That will allow Outlook to update itself.

If the server isn't online, then you'll have to manually update the profile.
