I want to move items from the sent folder into another folder, but each time I do it, it makes a link instead, so that when I delete it from the sent folder, the linked copy I put in the other folder also gets deleted. I looked in the help file and it says to use press ALT while dragging (to unlink), but that doesn't seem to work. Anyone out there know the answer?

The 'Sent Items' folder isn't a real folder. It's a search folder - it will search through all the folders on your system and list all sent emails. This means you can't move emails from this folder (since it's not real!)

If you change the view of your Mailbox (or any other folder) to 'sent items' via the Display drop-down list you'll see all the emails you've sent. You can then move them to other folders. They'll still appear in the Sent Items folder though.

I find it easier to delete the Sent Items folder altogether. If you keep your mailbox tidy then you don't need it.

John,

You are GREAT!!!!

I have another Q related to this. I tried to make another folder called "Sent" with properties that it will display sent intem in there. Yet it doesn't. WHat did I do wrong?

Thanks again for your help!!!

Here's another thought for your first question. I teach our GW users to right click on their SENT ITEMS folder, choose properties, choose the FIND tab. On the right hand side of the dialog box, you'll see the un-expanded tree of folders you can choose to disply/hide (labelled "look in"). Expand the tree view until you can see the "cabinet" folder. Uncheck it. This will stop any messages you have dragged to another cabinet folder from displaying in Sent Items. Then they won't get deleted when you clean up Sent Items.

Personally, I like having a Sent Items folder to look at.....

Hope this helps.

1oldfoxman, your idea WORKS GREAT!!!! That was exactly what my boss wanted! Thanks!!!!

1. Open Groupwise Client.
2. Create a folder in the Cabinet that Sent Item messages will be moved.
3. Right-Click on Sent Item folder then select Properties.
4. Click on Find [Tab]
5. In Look-in window expand mailbox to cabinet.
6. Uncheck the box next to the folder created for Sent Item.
7. Go to Sent Item folder and move messages to the new folder.
8. The message will disappear from the Sent Item folder and will display in the new folder.

Hopefully this solves your problem.
