Hello all,

I'm trying to move a large amount of data from one disk to another, I thought I'd back it up using ufsdump and restore it using ufsrestore so I keep the time stamps. Is there a way i can do a backup and restore without putting it to a file or tape?. Basically a disk to disk backup

A "man ufsrestore" has an example of exactly what you're looking for.

Code:
 f dump_file Use dump_file instead of /dev/rmt/0 as the
file to restore from. Typically dump_file
specifies a tape or diskette drive. If
dump_file is specified as `-', ufsrestore
reads from the standard input. This allows
ufsdump(1M) and ufsrestore to be used in a
pipeline to copy a file system:
              example# [b]ufsdump 0f - /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s7 \
               | (cd /home;ufsrestore xf -)[/b]
