I am loking for a way to move files from server to a new one. i've tried to use the document mover it will not change the location of the documents. I have also tried to use a hex editor and replace the server name in the contsupp.dbt and dbf files but when I go to maintain database to index I wind up with a read error. any help would be aqppreciated

Thanks for your post. I have tried the linked doc mover. It will run through the files that I would like to move but it does not move the files to the desired folder that I have put in the path. I have also tried using a hex editor and replaced all the old server names with the new ones. But when I re-index the files I get an error that way too.
My head hurts!

The linked doc mover doesn't physically move the files -- you need to move them first. What the linked doc mover utility does is updates the GoldMine tables with the correct location of the files. Keep the path the same -- move from \\serverx\goldmine\\docs to \\servery\goldmine\docs. That'll give you the least amount of headache.

You do need to move the files to the new location first.
