Hi Everyone,

I think my questions so basic that I cant find documentation on it. but here goes...

I recently inherited a system in Brazil that uses IP telephony on an 8300 system. They have 4600 series sets. The admin assistant wants to move a phone (8039) from its present location to another room where another station (8019)is currently. she wants to do this because 8019 is a 4610 phone and 8039 is a 4601 phone, and she wants to leave the extensions in the same rooms just switch the physical phone types.

so she picked up the 4610 set and moved it to where 8019 was, but the phone retained its original settings and is displaying 8039 as the extension. How can i make this 8019? Do I have to do a reset or a logoff or what, the only info I see is not clear which command to use to make a move and I'm so used to just swapping the ports on the definity's...

In the definity world if i wanted to change a phone type I would just typpe in the new phone type and move the phones...the extensions would stay put. But in this instance the extensions moved with the phone. any ideas how to just swap the physical phones and leave the stations where they are? Thanks!!

Heather

1. Change the phone types in the system (4601 vs. 4610).
2. Logoff (MUTE L O G O F F #) both extensions.
3. Enter the new/correct extension when prompted after the logoff is completed.

Think of LOGOFF as the IP equilivant of TTI.

Heathersue, Susans answer helped me to resolve another problem that has been plagueing me for a while. That is changing the phone type in the system. I just realized by trial and error (mostly error) that in order to change the type of set, you first have to logoff before it will allow you to do this. Thanks Heathersue for the question and thanks Susan for the answer.

rick4610,

to change phone type you can simply do a busyout/release cycle on this phone, this will send it into reboot. after that, but before the phone boots up again, you have half a minute to sneak in and change its type. :)
