Fellow experts,

I have completed my Access Application and would now like to move to a Web Server so that people will have access to it?

Any information on how to do this? Please advise.

Thanks a bunch

You may want to see the discussion in thread702-1392052

Basically, you'll look at ASP, DAP's, and Citrix. It depends on your knowledge, how much time you want to spend, how complex(query wise).

Remember, you're talking about the web. VBA was not created for the internet. So if your application has any VBA coding, too bad.

Actually if you could supply more information on exactly what your users will be doing, we can give you a better answer.

Another option is ASP.NET, however you will not be able to salvage any UI code from Access forms or modules. You would create webforms and write new code to get to the Access data.

Sorry Guys,

I've been on business. Just returned and now I have to get things started.

Is MS Frontpage possible?

My program is really not complex at all and the queries are simple joins. The user will basically just enter data and view reports.

I'm not sure how Frontpage works, but I can't imagine Frontpage it being much easier or faster that VS. VS Web Developer Express is free so it's an economical way to go. I've also have been using ASP.NET Gridviews and Detailsview. It's easy when you get used to it but there is a slight learning curve.

Another approach I've been wondering about is Sharepoint. I wonder if we should have signed up for a Sharepoint account and used that instead? Maybe someone else here would know more about it.

FrontPage is for producing static HTML pages, so for instance it could not dynamically list all orders for a customer. So I don't that is an option for what you want to do.

You never specified how many users. Also, you haven't mentioned if you looked into any of our suggestions yet.

"The user will basically just enter data and view reports."

This may hint at a misunderstanding. You'll be creating web pages. There are no such things as entry forms and reports. They're just web pages.

Most, if not all, like ASP. I like DAP's. But even Microsoft doesn't include DAP's in 2007. Grumble, grumble.

Have you looked at

It is generally best to avoid Frontpage. Some people include 'like the plague'.

JoeAtWork:

Frontpage does have some ability to use Access. I suspect its part of Frontpage extensions to the web server.
