Hi,

I have got two logical volumes which have become stale in a PV. This PV has sufficient free PP's to accomodate the other stale PP's. Can someone let me know what is the process for moving the data from this stale PP to a good PP.
These logical volumes are mirrored LV's

I probabaly think that this is a very long procedure, but can someone let me know.

On the mirrored PV, I have some other LV's out of which one of them has become stale, now I am in a situation where neither of the disks are completely good. When I am trying to a mksysb it is failing.

TIA
Kumar

PPs become stale because they cannot (or could not) be kept in sync with their other copies or mirrors (mostly due to disk I/O errors) If you have a good copy or mirror on another disk, you can recover online by removing the stale copy of the LV (the copy which has the stale PPs) and rebuilding a new copy on another disk.

If you don't have a good copy (either no mirroring or all mirrors/copies have gone bad or stale) you can only recover if you have a recent backup, because it involves rebuilding and restoring...
