I have a Linksys wireless router. There are two computers wired to it, and I have a laptop that uses the wireless feature. I've read numerous entries about antannaes and such, but I think I might have another solution that I just don't quite know how to complete. This router has detachable antannae, and there are two. I would like to run cable through the wall and attach an antannae in another room of the house. Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, what kind of calbing and connectors would I need? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I have done this on Linksys Wireless Routers and Access Points. HyperTech no longer supportds the routers so you may want to shop around. I have them working fine but there is no performance increase, just allowed me to extend my range!

I used Hyperlink's's 8dbi High Gain attena. I thought my performance would increase dramatically over the standard antenna's which I think are about 4dbi, I could be wrong. Again, there was no performance increase what so ever, but it did allow me to move the antenna externally outside the home for additional coverage.

I used...

50 ft of Commscope 0623 WBC-400 cable (this is going to be your extension cable to go from the pigtail off the Linksys router to the attenna's connector.

1 or 2 depending on how many antennas you buy, pigtails. I used Commscope again WBC-195 RP-TNC (male to female). This connects from the Linksys Router's connector and join the extension cable's connector.

One antenna (I used HyperLink's HG2408U).

Hope this helps. I still have all these pieces left over from another job (substitute the 50ft cable with a 20ft). I would be willing to be a good hearted person and give them to you if you pay S&H. I'll check back in a day or so.
