moving a file to another directory

is there a function to move an uploaded file, i have the path, to another directory on the server?

move_uploaded_file() doesnt appear to do the trick unless im doing it wrong.

yes, i tried that with the url of the file in one argument amd the destination url in the other, i didnt see the file move and the folders are writable.

I don't understand. You asked about uploaded files, which would have already been sent from and HTML form and would already be on the server's filesystem. A URL would not come into play here. Did you read the section of the PHP online manual titled, "Handling File Uploads"? I provided a link.
