Moving a client index between backup servers

Hi,

I want to move a backup client from one backup server to another and preserve the older backups which go back 6 months. After the copy I would like to perform a test restore. What procedure will I have to go through to complete this? I guess I need to create the client on the new server before shutting down the services (NT server) and copying across the files to their new location.
Any help appreciated.

You actually have to scan the index info from the client's save sets.
